The program consist of a 3 – tier system which serves individuals who wish to take Anger Management classes of their own volition. This is referred to as the Self – Referred Group or Level #1. This group which meets for 12 – weeks and attendance is done via online, or telehealth and participants are not required to meet at a physical classroom setting.
The next group is for those who were recommended to attend Anger Management classes by their employer and is titled Employee Group or Level #2. This group will be required to attend classes for the duration of 10 – weeks via virtual on line or telehealth and will not be required to attend physical classes.
Lastly, the third group consist of individuals who have been ordered to attend Anger Management classes by the court and is referred to as Court Ordered Group or Level #3. This is the only group that must attend classes at the office or classroom setting and the duration of each of this particular program will be for a total of 16 – weeks.
Level #1and Level #2 may schedule individual educational classes with the instructor but those who are assigned to Level #3 will not be allowed to schedule or attend individual classes. The duration for all classes is 90 – minutes with a brief 10 – minute break.
All classes are taught by a Certified Anger Management Specialist (CAMS) by the National Anger Management Association (NAMA). The required workbook is “What’s Good About Anger?” 4th Ed., authors Lynette Hoy and Ted Griffin. Other resources, such as relaxation, stress management and communication skills, will be referenced and provided to each participant by the instructor. Homework assignments (i.e., Self – Report Questionnaires and Anger Cycle Diagrams, etc.) along with reading and journaling is an essential component of successfully completion of the program.
